Everything needs to have a beginning, and so must my Blog....and since we all began with fairy tales, here's one for the records (of course any intepretation you make out of it is completely upto you)
The Snail and it's Shell-an original by yours truly
Once upon a time, in ages past, when the world was still young and new, and everything was bright and blue, there existed the snail. Now in those days the snail had no shell...it was born into a carefree world and hence needed no protection.
But as the years went by, things changed. The snail, because of it's speed, could never be part of any other group...it was an outcast hwerever it went. So, it decided to run, to hide from the world which was so cruel to it...and thus it was that it found a shell...and retreated deep inside it.
Ages went by, and the snail forgot about the outside world...it could remember neither the blue sky, nor the green grass...but then one fine day something happened...it's shell cracked open a bit...a Circlular hole to peep through...and the light enamoured the snail, seducing it with all it's promises of freedom.
So, the snail left it's shell...and crawled out into the open world...so wide and free...but, though things had changed, some remained the same...and the snail was still an outcast...and an even stranger one, coz the world hadn't seen it for ages...and the ridicules were harsher...and the smiling 'friends' had sharper knives...beaten and wounded. the snail ran back to it's shell...only to find that the shell was dark and foreboding too...but then the snail thought:
"Atleast in here, there is none to mock me, to deride all that I am, to trap me with words of honey and then stab me in the back...atleast in this Solitude I am Safe from the evils of the world..."
and so it remains inside it's shell to this day. Ocassionally, it wishes to glimpse the outside world...and then it peeps out, but it has learned it's lesson...it will never leave it's shell ever again.

a pensive tale, not a fairy tale as you claim. Maybe too pessimistic for a start. But nevertheless you have got me glued :)
ReplyDeleteAnd why not? blow your own trumpet loud and clear; let the world hear your music.
ReplyDeleteWhat will happen to the snail? Will there be a metamorphosis? will it sprout wings or grow rollerblades? Or will there be more memoirs by the snail of how it outwitted Noah who had schemed to rid the world of snails?
Get on with the story; we wait with bated breath.
well... a nice n satisfactory explanation..
